Question : 14
Total: 100
The point where entire weight of an object acts, is called-
Edge
Center of gravity
Central point
Can anywhere in body
Validate
Solution:
Center of Gravity:
It is a point, near or within a body, through which its entire weight can be assumed to act when considering forces on the body and its motion
under gravity. This coincides with the center of mass in a uniform gravitational field.
It is also called the point in any solid where a single applied force could support it; the point where the mass of the object is equally balanced.
The center of gravity is also called the center of mass.
The concept of "center of gravity" was first introduced by the great ancient Greek physicist, mathematician, and engineer Archimedes of
Syracuse .
Example of Center of gravity: If we just balance the object using a string or an edge, the point at which the object is balanced is the center of
gravity.
Central Point is the point within a body through which a specified force may be considered to act, such as the center of gravity.
The point, axis, or pivot about which a body rotates.
Edge is the area where the entire object or body should be balanced. It is also known as a string.
