Question : 112
Total: 120
A question and two statements labeled (I) and (II) are given. You have to decide which statement(s) is/are sufficient to answer the question. What is Guna's age?
I. Guna, Vinav and Keshav are all of the same age.
II. Sum of ages of Vinay, Keshav and Arjun is 32; also Arjun is as old as Vinay and Keshav together.
Statement II alone is sufficient.
Both the statements together are needed.
Either I or II alone are sufficient.
Statement I alone is sufficient.
Validate
Solution:
(2) For calculating Guna’s age, both the statements are needed as:
From statement 1: ⇒ G = K = V. So, nothing can be deduced alone.
From statement 2 : ⇒V + K + A =32. Also, V + K = A
But again this is not sufficient alone to give the answer.
∴ , V + K = 16 is the maximum solution. We can reach to this conclusion without statement 1. So, from both the statements Guna’s age is 8 years.
∴ Both the statements are together needed.
