(2) Goods and Services Tax(GST) is an indirect tax which was introduced in India on 1 July 2017. It has subsumed various indirect taxes including central excise duty, services tax, additional customs duty, surcharges, state-level value added tax and Octro i. It was introduced as The Constitution(101st Amendment) Act 2017, following the passage of Constitution 122nd Amendment Act Bill.
