1) Surat is a port city situated on the banks of the Tapti river. The river empties into the Gulf of Cambay of the Ara bi an Sea, in Surat. Tapti,along with Narmada River,form the boundaries between North and South India. It is one of only three rivers in peninsular India that runs from east to west - the others being the Narmada River and the Mahi River.
