y^2 - 7y + 10 = 0

⇒

2x^2 - 2x - 3x + 3 = 0

⇒

2x (x - 1) - 3 (x - 1) = 0

⇒

(x - 1)(2x - 3) = 0

⇒

x = 1 \text{ or, } \frac{3}{2}

II.

y^2 - 7y + 10 = 0

⇒

y^2 - 2y - 5y + 10 = 0

⇒

y (y - 2) - 5 (y - 2) = 0

⇒

(y - 2)(y - 5) = 0

⇒

y = 2 \text{ or, } 5
