Solution:

Let the weight of diamond = x

The original price of the diamond is proportional to

x^2

When diamond breaks into three pieces 3y , 5y and 7y .

x = 3 y + 5y + 7 y =15y

Original price of diamond

= (1 5 y)^2 = 2 2 5 y^2

Price of diamond after breakage

= (3 y )^2 + (5 y )^2 + (7 y )^2 = 8 3 y^2

According to the question,

225y^2 - 8 3 y^2 =42600

⇒

142y^2 =42600

∴

y^2 =300

Original price of diamond

= 225 \times 300 = \text{₹} 67500
