If the height of a cylinder is 4 times its circumference, the volume of the cylinder in terms of its circumference c, is

Solution:

(3) If the radius of base of cylinder be r units, then,

Height = 4 × 2πr = 8πr units

∴ 2πr = c

\therefore r=\frac{c}{2\pi}

and

h=4c

∴ Volume of cylinder

=\pi r^2h

=\frac{\pi c^2}{4\pi^2}\times4c

=\frac{c^3}{\pi}
