Point E is 8 m towards the East of point B.

Point C is 5 m towards the East of point A.

Point D is 9 m towards the West of point C.

How far should one walk from point A in order to reach point D?

The distance between point A andD:

AD = DC – AC

AD = 9 – 5

AD = 4

Thus, the distance between point Aand point D is 4 m.
