Question Numbers : (196 to 200)

Hundred years ago, as humans we had an uncomplicated biological connect. We drew roughly 3000 calories of energy each, out of the earth for our food and life's sustenance. Today it has grown to 1,00,000 calories. We need only 3000 calories each to nourish life even now. All the rest of the energy is what we extract from the earth for everything else besides keeping ourselves alive.
How to soften this abuse of resources and move towards sustainable development? Beyond the ceremonial planting of green, getting people to run marathons in support of environment, is there more that we can do for the sustainability of development? Of course, it helps to avoid a plastic bag and use a jute bag which you can reuse without the abuse of the earth. However, there's actually quite a bit you and I can do without compromise on comfort, with very little cost incurred, with financial savings so that we can gain on energy and water use to secure our present as well as future development without the abuse of earth.
