(b) The Nilgiri biosphere reserve was the first biosphere reserve setup in the year 1986 in the states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala,and key fauna are Nilgiri Tahr and Lion-tailed Macaque. Nanda Devi biosphere reserve was set up in the year 1998 in the state of Uttara khand and key fauna is Himalayan Snow Leopard. Sunderbans biosphere reserve was set up in 1989 in the state of West Bengal and key fauna is Royal Bengal Tiger. Kanchenjunga Biosphere Reserve was set up in 2000 in the state of Sikkim and key fauna are Snow Leopard and Red Panda.
