(c) The Deep Carbon Observatory (DCO) is a global community of more than 1000 scientists to understand the quantities, movements, forms and origins of carbon in Earth. It explores highpressure and extreme temperature organic synthesis, complex interactions between organic molecules and minerals, conducts field observations of deep microbial ecosystems and constructs theoretical models of the lower crust and upper mantle carbon sources and sinks.
