Rivers from north to south are the Jhelum, the Chenab, the Raviand the Sutlej. The River Jhelum rises from its chief source Verinag at the foothills of Pir Panjal ranges in Jammu and Kashmir and flows through a long stretch across the Srinagar and Wular Lakes. The Chenab originates from near the Bara Lacha Pass in the Lahaul-Spiti part of the Zaskar Range. The Ravi has its source in Kullu Hills near theRohtang Pass in Himachal Pradesh.The Sutlej rises from theMansarovar-Rakas Lakes inwestern Tibet at a height of 4,570m within 80 km of the source of theIndus.
