The Uniform Civil Code as provided under Article 44 of the Constitution of India is not a Fundamental Right. UCC is a Directive Principle of State Policy. Like any other DPSPs, it too is non-justiciable in nature, that is, they are not legally enforceable by the courts for their violation. The DPSPs are fundamental in the governance of the country and it shall be the duty of the State to apply these principles in making the laws.
