The President is the first citizen of India (head of the Indian state). The Indian has following terms of office: • The President holds the office for a term of five years from the date of entering his/her office. • The President may resign before the expiration of his/her term by writing to the Vice President. • The President can also be removed from the office before the completion of his/her term by the way of Impeachment. • The President can hold the office beyond his term of five years till his/her successor assumes charge. • The Indian President is also eligible for re-election to the office of President.
