The city of Cartagena is located in South America’s country Colombia. It is a major port of Colombia and is located on its northern coast. The Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety to the Convention on Biological Diversity is an international agreement which aims to ensure the safe handling, transport and use of living modified organisms (LMOs). It was effective from 11 September 2003.
