● Central Bureau of Investigation was set up in 1963 by a resolution of the Ministry of Home Affairs. ◦ It plays an important role in the prevention of corruption and maintaining integrity in administration. ● Central Vigilance Commission was established in 1964 by an executive resolution of the Union government. ◦ It is the main agency for preventing corruption in the Union government. ● State Human Rights Commission was created by the Protection of Human Rights Act of 1993. ◦ A State Human Rights Commission can inquire into violation of human rights only in respect of subjects mentioned in the State List and the Concurrent List of the Seventh Schedule of the Constitution of India. ● State Information Commission was created by the Right to Information Act of 2005. ◦ It is an independent body which inter-alia looks into the complaints made to it and decide the appeals.
