The idea of a Constituent Assembly for India was put forward by M.N.Roy . In 1935 , the Indian National Congress officially demanded the Constituent Assembly to frame the constitution of India.
● The Constituent Assembly was constituted in November 1946 by the Cabinet Mission Plan .
● The total strength of the Constituent Assembly was to be 389 in which 296 seats were to be allotted to British India and 93 seats to the Princely States.
● Seats allocated to each of the British provinces were divided among three principal communities- Muslim , Sikhs and General . Hence statement 1 is not correct .
● The Constituent Assembly held its meeting on 9 December 1946 .
● Dr Sachchidanand Sinha , as the oldest member, was elected as temporary President of the Assembly and later Dr Rajendra Prasad was elected as the President of the Assembly.

◦ Making of the constitution for India- Constituent body -chaired by Dr Rjendra Prasad. Hence statement 2 is not correct .
◦ Enacting ordinary laws to the country- legislative body -chaired by G.V. Mavlankar.
Provincial Constitution Committee was chaired by Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel and Union Constitution Committee was chaired by Jawaharlal Nehru . Hence statement 3 is correct
Chairman for the Drafting Committee was Dr B.R.Ambedkar .
Rules of procedure Committee and Steering Committee were headed by Dr Rajendra Prasad .
The constitution was adopted on 26 November 1949 .
