PAHAL scheme stands for Pratyaksha Hastaantarit Laabh. It was launched by the union government of India for LPG gas consumers. PAHAL scheme is related to the LPG subsidy transfer in the consumer's account. The subsidy amount is directly received in the bank account of the consumer. In its initial phase, it was launched in 291 districts. The Union government re-launched this scheme on 15 th November 2014 due to some issues related to the Aadhar card. It was included in the Guinness book of world records as the world’s largest cash transfer program (households). The objectives of the PAHAL Scheme were to: Remove incentive for diversion. Remove fake/duplicate connections. Ensure a subsidy to the customer. Improve the delivery of LPG cylinders to genuine users. Allow self-selection in subsidy.
