Dholavira: The City of Dholavira located in Khadir island of the Rann of Kutch belonged to matured Harappan phase . Globally, Dholavira can be compared to the cities of Ancient River Valley Civilization the urban metropolises of Egyptian, Chinese and Mesopotamian. Dholavira is the most spectacular IVC site in India and the fifth-largest in the subcontinent in terms of areal coverage. It is the largest excavated Harappan site in India which can be seen by the tourists. Sannathi : Sannathi was a small village on the banks of the river Bhima in Chittapur taluk of Kalaburagi. Sannathi is an important Buddhist site in Kalaburagi district excavated by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) . A sculpture-portrait of Emperor Ashoka — the only available image of the Mauryan emperor was found here. Ashokan edicts were written in Prakrit language and Brahmi script has been found here. A magnificent Maha Stupa , which had been referred to as Adholoka Maha-Chaitya ( The Great Stupa of the Netherworlds ) in the inscriptionshas been discovered here. Balathal: Balathal is a Harappan site located in the state of Rajasthan . It is located on the banks of the Katar river . The site was discovered by V. N. Mishra during a survey in 1962-63. Alamgirpur: Alamgirpur is an archaeological site of the Indus Valley Civilization that thrived along Yamuna River (on the banks of Hindon river) (c. 3300–1300 BC) from the Harappan period . ( Located in Uttar Pradesh ) The site was discovered and excavated by Dr Y.D. Sharma of Archaeological Survey of India. It is the easternmost site of civilization.
