The land use survey is conducted annually and is based on a 9-fold classification including i. forests; i. Area under non-agricultural uses; iii. Barren and uncultivable land; iv. Pastures and other grazing lands; V. Land under miscellaneous tree crops; vi. Culturable waste land; vii. Fallow land other than current fallows; viii. Current fallows; and ix. Net area sown area. The "Land Use and Land Cover" (LULC) data is collected at village level and is later aggregated to higher hierarchical units such as districts and states in India.
