Solution:

Equivalent resistance of the circuit

R_{eq}=100\;\Omega

Current through the circuit,

i=\frac{V}{R}=\frac{2.4}{100}\mathrm{A}

Potential difference across combination of voltmeter and 100 Ω rersistance

=\frac{2.4}{100}\times 50=1.2\mathrm{V}

Since the volmeter and 100 Ω resistance are in parallel, the voltmeter reads the same value i.e., 1.2 V.
