For following reaction,

2\mathrm{NO}(g) + \mathrm{O}_2(g) \rightarrow 2\mathrm{NO}_2(g)

When the volume of vessel is reduced to

\frac{1}{3}

then concentration of reactant becomes three times.

The rate of reaction for first order reaction is proportional to the concentration. So rate of reaction will increase three times.
