20 May, 2022, Mumbai: A musical night 'Swaranjali' was organised on 19 May, 2022 to pay tribute to 'Swar Kokila', Lata Mangeshkar at Maglam Ground from 6 P.M. onwards. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp in front of Lata Mangeshkar's photo which was followed by Ganesh Vandana, which signifies removal of darkness.
Chief Guest Smt. Kala Choudhary, Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, said that death of Lata ji was a void in the music and film industry that could never be fulfilled. It is an irreparable loss to the country as well. During the programme, different songs of different era including folk songs, classical songs, romantic songs, prosaic songs, etc., sung by Lata ji were crooned by prominent playback singers. Many intellectuals, ambassadors and other dignitaries were present in large numbers to pay their respect.
In the end, songs like 'Rahe na rahe hum', Meri awaaz hi pehchaan hain' were presented which brought tears in the eyes of all those present in the programme. The programme was conducted with great earnestness and passion and everyone enjoyed the night a lot.
