'Akademik Shokalskiy', a Russian vessel, was heading towards Antarctica with a crew of 52 people to study and research the history of humankind. They were nearing the Antarctic Circle when the ship entered a thick mass of ice and got stuck. The captain of the ship instructed the passengers to disembark the ship onto the frozen ocean.
