(a) The difference between binary fission and multiple fission is as follows:
 S.No.  Binary Fission  Multiple Fission
 1  Binary fission results in formation of two individuals from the single parent.  Multiple fission results in formation of many cells from a single parent.
 2  It occurs in most of bacterium relay from binary fission for reproduction. For example; Amoeba reproduces through binary fission in which two daughter nuclei are formed from a single parent.  It occurs in few organisms and not only for reproduction but also to tide over unfavourable condition. For example : When a spirogyra filament attains considerable length, the filament breaks down into smaller pieces which grow up to a mature spirogyra. This process is called fragmentation.
