Question : 34
Total: 36
An iron nail is dipped in the solution of copper sulphate for about 3 0 minutes, state the change in colour observed. Give the reason for the change.
Solution:
Iron is more reactive than Cu . So it displaces Cu from copper sulphate solution. Thus, blue colour of the CuSO 4 solution fades and colour of the solution turns green due to the formation of ferrous sulphate solution. This is a displacement reaction.
