The type of democracy which has more than two parties and offer a number of options for the people to choose their leaders is called a multi-party system. India has adopted it because :
(i) It allows governing of such a large country like-India which has so much of diversity.
(ii) It involves better competition during elections and better working in the long term.
(iii) It gives us the spirit of democracy.
A multi-party system is true to the spirit of democracy. Without multi-party system democracy cannot be established fully in any country.
