 Ruling Political Party  Opposition Political Party
 (i) The political party which has power and forms the government. It is the winner of general elections.  The party or parties which fails to form the government constitutes the opposition and criticises government for its failure or wrong policies.
 (ii) It is responsible for governance and. administration of the country.  It checks the government from assuming dictatorial power.
