Classification of industries on the basis of source of raw materials used:
(i) Agro based industries: The industries which obtain raw materials from agriculture are called agro based industries. For example, cotton, woollen, jute, silk textile, rubber and sugar, tea, coffee, edible oil, etc.
(ii) Mineral based industries: The industries which consume minerals as their raw materials are called mineral based industries. For example, iron and steel, cement, aluminium, machine tools, petrochemicals, etc.
