What is the difference between amylase and amylopectin?

Write the products obtained after hydrolysis of lactose.

Solution:

Amylose is a long unbranced chain of α-D-glucose units held by C1−C4 glycosidic linkage whereas amylopectin is a branched chain polymer of α-Dglucose units, units in which chain is formed by C1−C6 glycosidic linkage while branching occurs by C1−C6 glycosidic linkage.
