Explain any five features of the Environment Protection Act.

Environment Protection Act, 1886 relate to the protection and improvement of the human environment and the prevention of hazards to human beings, other living creatures, plants and property.
Features of the Environment Protection Act are :
(i) To provide the protection and improvement of environment and for matters connected therewith.
(ii) To coordinate activities of the various regulatory agencies under the existing laws.
(iii) To give the widest possible powers to the central government to measures to protect and improve the environment.
(iv) To establish or recognise environmental laboratories.
(v) It prescribes stringent panalties for violation of provision of the act.
