Methods of Training are :
(a) On the Job training : In this method, the trainee is placed on a regular job and taught the skills required to perform the job. It is also known as learning by doing'. A superior or trainer guides and supervises the trainee. On the job training is convenient and inexpensive. It provides first hand job knowledge and experience under actual working conditions. Example of on the job training :Jobe Rotation : Under this method, the trainee is moved from one job to another at planned period of time. This exposure at different levels, makes the employee multi dimensional.
(b) Off the job training : In this method, the trainee is separated from the job situation and learns the skills related to the job. Study material is supplied and there is full focus on learning rather than performing.
Example of off the Job training :
Vestibule Training : In this method, a training centre called vestibule. New workers are trained with special machines or equipments in vestibule and actual work situation is duplicated here. Expert trainers are employed to provide training. The trainees learn the job on the equipment and machines which they will be using on the Job.
