Question : 23
Total: 67
When a current carrying conductor is placed in a magnetic field, it experiences a mechanical force. What should be the angle between the magnetic field and the length of the conductor so that the force experienced is :
(i) Zero
(ii) Maximum?
(i) Zero
(ii) Maximum?
Solution:
We know, F = BI l s i n θ ,
whereθ is the angle between the magnetic field and the length of the conductor, thus
(i) For the force (F) to be zero, angleθ = 0 ∘ ( ∵ s i n 0 ∘ = 0 )
(ii) For the force( F ) to be maximum, angle θ = 90 ∘ ( ∵ s i n 90 ∘ = 1 )
where
(i) For the force (F) to be zero, angle
(ii) For the force
