When a current carrying conductor is placed in a magnetic field, it experiences a mechanical force. What should be the angle between the magnetic field and the length of the conductor so that the force experienced is :
(i) Zero
(ii) Maximum?

Solution:

We know, F=BI‌l‌s‌i‌n‌θ,
where θ is the angle between the magnetic field and the length of the conductor, thus
(i) For the force (F) to be zero, angle θ=0∘ (∵sin‌0∘=0)
(ii) For the force (F) to be maximum, angle θ=90∘(∵sin‌90∘=1)
