Why is the slope of CD less than slope of AB ?
Solution:  
The part AB represents the rise in temperature of the substance from initial temperature to temperature t1. The part CD represents the rise in temperature from t1 to t2. It is clear from the diagram that raise in temperature of part CD is more, so it will take more time. Therefore the slope of CD is less than slope of AB.
