What is the magnitude of magnetic force per unit length on a wire carrying a current of 8 A and making an angle of 30° with the direction of a uniform magnetic field of 0.15 T?
Solution:
Let l be length of wire, carrying a current of 8 A at an angle 30° with the magnetic field.
Force on the wire, F = IBl sinθ
Force per unit length F/l = IB sinθ
F/l = 8 × 0.15 × sin 30° = 0.6 Nm – 1 .
Force on the wire, F = IBl sinθ
Force per unit length F/l = IB sinθ
F/l = 8 × 0.15 × sin 30° = 0.6 N
