Rajatarangini is a metrical historical chronicle of northwesternIndian subcontinent, particularly the kings ofKashmir, written in Sanskrit by Kashmiri BrahmanKalhana in 12th century CE. The work generally recordsthe heritage of Kashmir, but 120 verses of Rajataranginidescribe the misrule prevailing in Kashmir during thereign of King Kalash, son of King Ananta Deva of Kashmir.Although the earlier books are inaccurate in theirchronology, they still provide an invaluable source ofinformation about early Kashmir and its neighbors inthe north western parts of the Indian subcontinent,and are widely referenced by later historians and ethnographers
