Given:

The numerator is 7 more than the denominator and when one is subtracted from the denominator, the fraction becomes

\frac{3}{2}

Calculation:

Let the denominator be x

So, the numerator = (x + 7)

According to question,

\frac{x+7}{x-1} = \frac{3}{2}

⇒ 2x + 14 = 3x – 3

⇒ x = 17

Now, the initial fraction

= \frac{x+7}{x} = \frac{24}{17}

\Rightarrow \frac{24}{17}

∴ The initial fraction is $\frac{24}{17}$
