Solution:
GIVEN:
Varsha spends 35% in shopping.
From the remaining she spends 40% on food and cloths.
Her savings = Rs. 11700
CALCULATION:
Let salary of Varsha = 100x
Spending on shopping = 35% of 100x = 35x
Spending on food and cloth = 40% of (100x – 35x) = 26x
Savings = 100x – 35x – 26x = 11700
⇒ 39x = 11700
⇒ x = 300
∴ Amount spent on shopping = 35x = 35 × 300 = Rs. 10500
