Atal Tunnel is also known as Rohtang tunnel.
The tunnel was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 3rd October 2020
It is located on the Leh-Manali Highway in Himachal Pradesh.
It is named after the former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
The 9.02 km-long-tunnel, built by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).
The tunnel connects Manali to Lahaul-Spiti valley.
The Atal tunnel project was announced by the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 2000.
