Ashoka's Dhamma is considered as a superb document of his essential humanity and it answers to the socio-political needs of the contemporaneous situation. The Ashoka's dhamma was not only the philosophical teaching of Buddha, but it also contains the idea of humanism, the universal brotherhood and Ahimsa, Ashoka's pillar edicts gives the concept of his Dhamma. He appointed Dhamma Mahamatra to check out law and order during his kingdom.
