Rajatarangini is a metrical legendary and historical chronicle of the north-western Indian subcontinent, particularly the kings of Kashmir. It was written in Sanskrit by Kashmiri historian Kalhana in the 12 th century CE. Muhammad Bin Tughlaq appointed Ibn Battuta as the Chief Qazi of Delhi. Ibn Battuta has discussed his travels and incursions in contemporary Islamic world and documented them in Rihla. He was appointed as Qazi by Muhammad Tughlaq and was also appointed ambassador to China. Abdul Hamid Lahori was a traveller and historian during the period of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan who later became a court historian of Shah Jahan. He wrote the book Padshahnama, about the reign of Shah Jahan. Amir Khusrau is credited for the invention of the sitar. At the time, there were many versions of the Veena in India. Hamida Banu Begum was a wife of the second Mughal emperor Humayun and the mother of his successor, the third Mughal emperor Akbar. She is also known by the title Maryam Makani, which was given to her by her son, Akbar.
