A beehive is an enclosed structure in which some honey bee species live and raise their young ones. Beehives serve several purposes e.g. production of honey, pollination of nearby crops, housing supply bees for apitherapy treatment and so on. Most of the bees in the hives are worker bees. Worker honey bees make hives to store honey and feed themselves throughout winter when they cannot go outdoors to forage for food. Honey beehives are made of six-sided tubes, which are the shapes for optimal honey production because they require less wax and can hold more honey. Every beehive has one queen that lay eggs. There are only a few males in the hive which are known as drones. A drone's primary role is to mate with an unfertilized queen. Thus, as compared to honey bees which are all females, drones (male bees) are not very important.
