It has been found that children who know nurseryrhymes have an advantage over those who do not.Nursery rhymes appear to help children: (a) learn theintonation patterns of a language (b) learn new wordsand concepts, (c) understand the basis of learning toread and write, and (d) gain appreciation of poetry. Rhythm: Rhythm is musical aspect of language. Itmakes pronunciation more appealing than it wouldotherwise be. When person plays upon a harmonium,his fingers on hands move from one note to the otherat regular interval. This is rhythm in music. Englishhas stress timed rhythm. It means equal time elapsesbetween one stressed syllable and the next. It does notmatter how many or how few stresses syllables maycame in between for instance. Intonation: Intonation refers to the rise and fall ofpitch in voice or it is the variation in pitch. Thevariation in pitch is done by slacking or tighteningour vocal cards and the sound. In pronunciationintonation is quite important. The meaning can bechanged just by change of pitch.
