A network consists of two or more computers that are linked in order to share resources (such as printers, CDs), exchange files, or allow electronic communication.
A Network shares hardware, software, and data among authorized users. Authorization is the function specifying access rights/privileges to resources related to information security and computer security in general and to access control in particular.
The computers on a network may be linked throughcables, telephone lines, radio waves, satellites, or infrared light beams.
Two very common types of networks include:
LAN (Local Area Network)- A network that is confined to a relatively small area.
WAN (Wide Area Network)- connects networks in a larger geographical area.
