Nitrogen can be estimated by Kjeldahl's method for the benzyl amine as in this compound nitrogen is not the part of ring and is free to react. Because this method can be readily applied to the compound in which nitrogen is free to react with the reagent. The compounds which have nitrogen in the ring (like pyridine), an azo compound, or in nitro compounds are not readily converted into the ammonium sulphate by the action of sulphuric acid.
