On 14th January 1931 ;at a place called Charan Paduka, in Chattarpur town, a large meeting was held to protest against the princely rule.
British Police opened fire on peaceful meetings of freedom fighters at Chattarpur and killed many innocent persons.
It is also known as the Jallianwala massacre of Madhya Pradesh.
Those who were martyred included Seth Sundarlal Waroha of Pipat, Chiru Kurmi, Halakai Ahir of Bandhaiya, Dharmadas of Khirwa, and Ramlal of Guna.
After this,21 persons were arrested, out of which Sarju Dua was sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for 4 years and the remaining 20 persons for 3 years.
