The Dibang Wildlife Sanctuary (DWLS) is located in Arunachal Pradesh.
It is situated in an area of 4,149 sq km in the Upper Dibang Valley district.
Rare mammals such as Mishmi takin, red goral, musk deer (at least two species), red panda, Asian black bear, occasional tiger, and Gongshan muntjac occur, while the rare Sclater monal and Blyth's tragopan occur among birds.
At the edge of this preserve, a flying squirrel, alien to science, has recently been found.
The giant flying squirrel of the Mishmi Hills has been named (Petaurista mishmiensis).
Dibang Wildlife Sanctuary is situated within the Dihang-Dibang Biosphere Reserve , in whole or in part.
It is protected by the Arunachal Pradesh Environment and Forest Department.
