The reaction of an acid with a base is called a neutralization reaction.
The products of this reaction are salt and water.
For example, the reaction of hydrochloric acid(HCl) with sodium hydroxide(NaOH) produces a solution of sodium chloride(NaCl)(salt) and some additional water molecules.
The neutralization of a strong base and strong acid has a pH equal to 7.
The neutralization of a strong base and weak acid will be greater than 7.
The neutralization of a strong acid and weak base will be less than 7.
When acid and base react, it produces salt and water. This process is called Neutralisation.
