Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) or Gross Enrollment Index (GEI) is a statistical measure used in the education sector to determine the number of students enrolled in school at several different grade levels (like elementary, middle school and high school), and use it to show the ratio of the number of students who live in that country to those who qualify for the particular grade level. Bihar recorded a Gross Enrollment Ratio of 87.8 percent way below the national average of 97.4 for the year 2014−15 for classes 1 to 8 . This was followed by Odisha (94.2) and Andhra pradesh (86.9).
