The Freedom Trophy is related to Test Cricket which is played by India and South Africa. This trophy is mainly dedicated to Struggle which had done by two of the greatest leader of the world and this trophy known as the Gandhi-Mandela trophy which was started in 2015.
In 2015 Board of control for cricket in India (BCCI) and Cricket of South Africa (CSA) announced that all future bilateral tours of India and South Africa to be named as the (Mahatma Gandhi-Nelson Mandela) series.
The series is named after two greatest leaders of India and South Africa to pay tribute to them for playing a major role in winning the independence against racism (nonviolence). This trophy has also helped in gaining an "Iconic and Traditional" status to the series.
The First winner of this trophy was India and the current holder of this trophy also won by India.
